Chase is definitely in the "no" phase. The answer to everything now-a-days is "no". Finally, Carrie got tired of it and told him he was going to go to timeout if he kept answering no. So, what does he do...? He goes and sits in timeout and says no. dtsv.dtse_post_329_permalink = 'http://daniel.heramb.net/blog/2011/06/20/timeout-by-choice/'; dtsv.dtse_post_329_title = 'Timeout [...]

This weekend has been fairly relaxing. In between taking care of a sick Chase, and driving to eat lunch with my dad, I got to watch some of Rory McIlroy's historic win at the US Open. That kid has a bright future in front of him. Still waiting to hear how James' team did in [...]

Steve, Matt and I took a trip up to Dawsonville, GA to do a round of sporting clays at Etowah Valley Sporting Clays Park. It was our first time, and none of us was very familiar with shotguns in general, but the man at the counter took the time to explain the guns and the [...]

After going hunting a few weeks ago, I decided I was ready to take the plunge and buy my first gun. At first I thought I wanted a rifle, but then I realized that you can actually hunt more seasons with a shotgun so I changed my mind. Originally I figured I'd just buy a [...]

So I go to probably the best dentist office in Atlanta, and a few days ago I went in for my normal 6-month cleaning. Of course they offered me the laughing gas, which I politely declined like always, but then just before they started they asked if I wanted my 5th wisdom tooth pulled. I [...]

A few weekends ago I was invited to go to south Alabama to participate in a deer drive. For those who don't know what that is... You basically send 20+ guys out into the woods with shotguns to stand 200 yards apart. You then send the rest of the guys to other end of the [...]

So apparently Justin Bieber is releasing a movie just in time for Valentine's day next year. Great timing seeing how every girl between the ages of 8 and 15 will probably make her "boyfriend" take her to see it. Below are the real trailer, a Jimmy Kimmel version of the trailer, and a fan that [...]

Bing has just announced a beta Bing search of the public Twitter stream. So far it looks pretty sweet. Two things in particular that I've noticed that make it nicer than the default Twitter search:
1.) When you search for an item, twitter shows you the results. But, when more tweets are posted that should show up in the results, you are only shown a notification "23 more items have been posted". However, with Bing's search, the items are update ajax-style "real-time".
2.) For a few of the major url shortening services, Bing actually displays the domain name of the destination url. I've noticed this for the default shortener bit.ly and tl.gd (Twit Longer). Doesn't appear to do this for tinyurl or the now defunct tr.im.
My big interest in this search engine is in the hopes that they will allow API calls that aren't limited like Twitter's rate-limited API.
If you use Twitter and ever find yourself searching for something, I definitely recommend giving Bing a try. http://qr4.us/bingtwit

It appears that Microsoft will not be satisfied simply with Twitter's status updates, apparently they are leveraging their $240 million investment in Facebook to get the upper hand on showing status updates in Bing. Read more at http://qr4.us/bingfb

So everyone at my job is doing a "Biggest Loser" competition. Instead of basing the competition on straight pounds, they are using a simple Body Mass Index (BMI) calculator. I wanted to participate, but if I lose any more weight, I'm afraid I may float away. So instead, I'll be doing a "Biggest Gainer" competition with myself to see how much good weight I can gain over the next 8 weeks. I'll be posting my diet and exercise on here daily along with before and after pictures to keep myself motivated.
My target weight for the end of the 8-week period is 180 lbs.
Day 1 (8/4) weigh-in: 164 lbs
Breakfast: banana, 2 pork chops
Lunch: banana w/ almond butter, 5 pork chops, peas, mac&cheese

QR (or QuickResponse) codes are everywhere in Japan, but they're just now reaching the US in large quantities. If you're looking for the next big thing for marketing departments, I have a feeling that this is going to be one of the many tools of the future.
Visit Wikipedia's page on the subject for a quick overview of the technology.
I downloaded the i-Nigma barcode reader for my Sprint Mogul and have been pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to install and use. Other readers you can try downloading are: QuickMark and Kaywa. Once you get a reader installed on your mobile phone, check out Kaywa's QR Code Generator!
Scan this code to add me to your address book.
Take a look at this code to send me a quick text message saying that you've read this page.

Make sure to give your mom a hug today (or at least a long-distance hug over the phone). Ty woke up extra early and made Carrie breakfast in bed.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation released sketches of the former University of Georgia professor, George Zinkhan, who is the prime suspect in the triple murder involving his wife.

I just thought it was funny how much these sketches resemble actor Tommy Lee Jones.

Finally got everyone (Daniel, Stephen, Matt, Becca) to play volleyball! Funny thing is...the average height between us is 6'3.5" and we're called the "Itsy Bitsy Spikers". Inaugural matches (open play for seeding in the Smyrna indoor volleyball league) will be on Tuesday May 5, 2009 around 6:30pm at the Smyrna Community Center. Come on out and watch, or join a team and play!

Awesome Trick Bowling Shot - I think the hardest part about this trick is knocking the nine pins down and leaving that one particular pin up.
Ultimate Horse Shots - Now, I know it probably took 6,435 takes to make a few of these shots, but who cares?! They're freaking awesome!
Confused Cat Scratched - Gotta love this cat's bewildered expression.
